In July 2014 young Russian soprano Evgeniya Sotnikova had a huge success as Jemmy in a new production Guillaume Tell at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich.
Later in 2014 she gave her debut at the RuhrTriennale in Louis Andrissen‘s De Materie.
2015 she returned to Munich for more Guillaume Tell and will perform for the first time the part of Soeur Constance in Poulenc’s Les Dialogues des Carmélites in Klagenfurt. In Rome she was heard with Stravinsky’s Les Noces conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
Born in Kurgan (Russia), she finished her studies at the Rimski-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg in 2008.
She participated successfully in international voice competitions, 2009 she was awarded a special prize at the Competizione dell’Opera in Dresden.
2008 she sang in St. Petersburg the title role of Tchaikovskij’s Iolanta and at the Moscow Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre Tatjana in Eugen Oneguin.
2009-2011 she was a member of the opera studio of Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, during the 2011/12 season Evgeniya Sotnikova was part of the ensemble of Bayerische Staatsoper, where she had the chance to perform roles like Erste Waldnymphe in Rusalka, Taumännchen in Hänsel und Gretel, Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Jano in Jenufa, Anna in Nabucco, La Bergère/Le Rossignol in L’Enfant et les sortilèges and Blumenmädchen in Parsifal.
2012 she participated in Rusalka of Glyndebourne Touring Opera.
2013 she gave her debuts as Ilia in a new production Idomeneo and as Leila in concert performances of Les Pêcheurs de Perles in Klagenfurt, sang Dama in Macbeth in Munich and one of the Blumenmädchen in Parsifal conducted by Stefan Soltesz in Essen.
Among her projects are 2015/16 Ines in a new production of Il Trovatore in Lille, Luxemburg and Caen, in spring 2016 Louis Andrissens De Materie with RuhrTriennale in New York, and her debut in the part of Contessa in a new production Le Nozze di Figaro at Malmö Opera in 2016/17. In spring 2017 Evgeniy Sotnikova will return to Munich for more Guillaume Tell and Jenufa.
As a concert singer she was heard 2012 in St. Gallen in pieces by Mozart and Bruckner, 2013 she sang Stravinskij’s Les Noces conducted by David Zinman in Zurich, Bruckner’s Te Deum in Klagenfurt and participated in a gala concert in Moscow with the State Academic Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Fedosseev.
